The Red Herring Trading Yard close to the beach area provides various shops, nursery, restaurant and pub.

Monkey Valley Resort set in a Milkwood forest on the Mountain Road offers rustic upmarket accommodation and spectacular views of the beach ….. Thorfynn's Restaurant boasts a good menu too and lovely sunset views.

Sunbird Environmental recreation centre on Silvermine Road, provides sleeping accommodation and guided tours through the wetlands, night-time exploration and arts and crafts sessions and adventure activities. Silvermine Reserve is also well worth a visit offering the visitor mountain biking &hiking in the mountains. The mountains have a number of plant species, including indigenous trees, Proteas, Ericas and reeds. This mountain area stretches through to Kalk Bay and Muizenberg.
